What should I do before I emigrate to Cyprus?
We recommend that you do the following things before you deregister in your home country:
- Open a convenient Online Banking Account and Online Depot in your home country if you still need to, like Revolut or N24. Banks in Cyprus are expansive and strict due to regulations. And it's much easier to open a bank account in your home country and update your address after emigration.
- Apply for a (genuine) Credit Card (i.e., Barclays) if you still need to get/use one. If you avoid Cyprus Banks, getting exciting benefits and reasonable pricing will be complex.
- Get a Travel Health Insurance! In some cases (like we experienced during COVID-19), getting your yellow slip and access to national healthcare can take longer than expected. Better to be safe.
- Find an apartment in Cyprus. It's easy, and we can assist you with that.
Remember to cancel all contracts and subscriptions you no longer need. Some terminations will require the previous deregistration in the home country. i.e., your Health Insurance.
